Interstellar

My review
It says a lot that I truly love so many of the entries on this list and yet Interstellar still takes the top spot with ease. I've reflected on why I love this film, and I think the reasons I am so captivated and engrossed can be distilled down to such themes as the incredible scale of the wider universe, and the insignificance of human existence within this, but yet the incredibleness of the human experience, with our capacity to survive and endure, infused into the storyline through a father doing everything in his power to be reunited with his daughter. This film just strikes a perfect chord with me, and the conceptual and emotional foundation is enhanced flawlessly through Hans Zimmer's absolutely sensational score, and the tremendous (but sometimes haunting) visuals depicting wonders of the universe that none of us alive will ever be able to experience first hand. Matthew Mcconaughey's outstanding performance is really just the cherry on top. I'd recommend everyone try and catch a 70mm showing of Interstellar at some point in their life as it really is a unique viewing experience. It's going to take one hell of an effort to dethrone this gem.
