The Bourne Identity
Chris's take
More representative of the Bourne Trilogy as a whole, I look at these films through rose-tinted glasses since they were childhood favourites, but even despite that they stand as a fantastic and original take on the spy thriller genre, offering a more grounded and realistic take. The pacing is perfect which brings intensity and a plot that never slows, the action is gritty and almost everything is practical effects, and the script is intelligent which brings depth and requires a thinking viewer.

Plot overview
Wounded to the brink of death and suffering from amnesia, Jason Bourne is rescued at sea by a fisherman. With nothing to go on but a Swiss bank account number, he starts to reconstruct his life, but finds that many people he encounters want him dead. However, Bourne realizes that he has the combat and mental skills of a world-class spy—but who does he work for?
